Moldavite is a natural tektite, formed when a large meteorite struck what is now southern Germany around 15 million years ago. The intense heat and pressure from the impact melted surrounding rocks, ejecting molten material high into the atmosphere before it cooled and fell across parts of Central Europe, particularly the Czech Republic.
This remarkable origin gives Moldavite its distinctive green colour, textured surface and fascinating natural history, making every piece completely unique.
Almost all genuine Moldavite is found in the Czech Republic, particularly in the regions of South Bohemia and Moravia. Because it is found in only one part of the world and cannot naturally be replaced once mined, Moldavite has become highly sought after by collectors, jewellery enthusiasts and crystal lovers alike.
